Not going anywhere for New Year's? If you have decided to stay home while not having a big party, you can still enjoy the holiday and ring in the new year with plenty of fun minus all of the noise and partying. Invited a few friends or family members, get out your favorite games, or turn on your favorite movie to let the fun begin. Perhaps a relaxing holiday is just what you need.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Some of your favorite movies
  • Favorite drinks
  • Favorite dinner entrees or snacks
  • Fun board games
  • A few of your close friends or family members
  • Plenty of throw blankets
  1. Step 1

Invite a few of your close friends or family members. Have everybody bring over their favorite snack or dinner entree.

  2. Step 2

Set out a small buffet of all of the dinners or snacks that were brought. Set out a table for everybody to dine together for a small mini-dinner.

  3. Step 3

Mix a few of your favorite alcoholic or non-alcoholic punches and drinks to sip on. Go around the table and ask everybody what their New Year's resolution will be. Go ahead and toast on it!

  4. Step 4

Get out some of your favorite board games or tell your friends or family to bring over one of their favorite games. Take a vote on which one to play. Have plenty of snacks and drinks available.

  5. Step 5

After some fun game playing, settle down with some throws, turn out the lights and turn on your favorite movie. Cuddle with your special someone, or curl up with your blanket. Set up a little alarm so that when midnight strikes, you can all wish each other a happy new year, then go back to your relaxing movie watching. If its too late, have everyone bring sleeping blankets, and they can sleep over until the next morning. An easy ending to a great New Year's holiday.

Tips & Warnings
  • Let friends or family stay at your house if they have been drinking. Let them stay until the next morning to keep the roadways safe.
  • Keep in mind, alcohol doesn't always equal fun. Non-alcoholic drinks are just as good. With your close friends and family, some fun games and movies, having New Year's at home can still be fun.
