Many people are looking for different ways in which they can better the planet by “going green.” This can even be done when decorating for Christmas. Here is how you can go green while decorating your Christmas tree.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy

Step1
Light your Christmas tree with candles instead of lights. This gives your Christmas tree an old-fashioned look. It will also save electricity, not to mention money.
Step2
String popcorn throughout your Christmas tree. This gives your Christmas tree a classic look. When it’s time to take your Christmas tree down, you can have a tasty treat.
Step3
Decorate your Christmas tree with acorns. This gives your Christmas tree an outdoors look to it. When you take your Christmas tree down, simply place the acorns in your yard.
Step4
Decorate your Christmas tree with berries. You can choose which type of berry to decorate with, depending on which color you want in your tree. Once again, when you take your Christmas tree down, you can either eat the berries or simply place them outside.
Step5
Use ripped-up pieces of paper instead of flocking. Sure, this still creates unnecessary trash. It is, however, a better overall alternative than flocking from a can.
Step6
Put a nonelectric tree topper on your tree. Instead of using a star that lights up, put an angel on top of your tree. The tree will still look beautiful but will not use electricity.
