How to Make a Lower Fat Guacamole

Guacamole is a delicious and healthy dip that is beloved by many. Unfortunately, guacamole, healthy though it is, contains a high amount of fat and calories, making it difficult to enjoy when watching your weight. Follow these easy instructions to make a delicious lower fat guacamole.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 2 ripe Hass avocados
  • 1/2 lime
  • 8 oz. container low fat plain yogurt
  • Fresh cilantro, chopped
  • Adobo seasoning blend
  1. Step 1

    Slice the avocados, remove the pit, and scoop the avocado flesh into a large bowl.

  2. Step 2

    Using a potato masher, mash the avocado until you reach desired consistency.

  3. Step 3

    Add a generous squeeze of fresh lime juice, the yogurt, a handful of chopped cilantro and a dash of adobo seasoning. Mix well.

  4. Step 4

    Taste the mixture and adjust seasonings as necessary.

  5. Step 5

    The lower fat guacamole will taste best if it's allowed to sit and marry for at least 10 minutes.

Tips & Warnings
  • Experiment with bulking up this lower fat guacamole by adding more vegetables like chopped tomato or onion.
  • Lower fat guacamole makes an excellent dip with fresh cut veggies.
  • Use as a sandwich spread in place of mayonnaise.
  • The lime juice is an essential ingredient. It prevents the avocado from oxidizing and turning brown.
