Guacamole is a delicious and healthy dip that is beloved by many. Unfortunately, guacamole, healthy though it is, contains a high amount of fat and calories, making it difficult to enjoy when watching your weight. Follow these easy instructions to make a delicious lower fat guacamole.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • 2 ripe Hass avocados
  • 1/2 lime
  • 8 oz. container low fat plain yogurt
  • Fresh cilantro, chopped
  • Adobo seasoning blend

Step1
Slice the avocados, remove the pit, and scoop the avocado flesh into a large bowl.
Step2
Using a potato masher, mash the avocado until you reach desired consistency.
Step3
Add a generous squeeze of fresh lime juice, the yogurt, a handful of chopped cilantro and a dash of adobo seasoning. Mix well.
Step4
Taste the mixture and adjust seasonings as necessary.
Step5
The lower fat guacamole will taste best if it's allowed to sit and marry for at least 10 minutes.

Tips & Warnings

  • Experiment with bulking up this lower fat guacamole by adding more vegetables like chopped tomato or onion.
  • Lower fat guacamole makes an excellent dip with fresh cut veggies.
  • Use as a sandwich spread in place of mayonnaise.
  • The lime juice is an essential ingredient. It prevents the avocado from oxidizing and turning brown.
