Decorating your Christmas tree can be a fun way to celebrate the season. It can also become quite expensive. Here is how you can cheaply decorate your Christmas tree.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Reuse Christmas lights from the year before. Granted, Christmas lights aren’t all that expensive. Nevertheless, this will save you a few bucks when decorating your Christmas tree.

  2. Step 2

Buy Christmas ornaments from a local dollar store. You’ll be happily surprised with how nice these ornaments can be. These, of course, are also much cheaper.

  3. Step 3

Don’t worry about a tree skirt, especially if you have a fake Christmas tree. These are completely unnecessary if you don’t have a real tree. They can also be more expensive than you would think.

  4. Step 4

Decorate your Christmas tree with candy canes. This adds a nice, classic touch to your Christmas tree. Also, candy canes can be bought by the dozen for very cheap.

  5. Step 5

String popcorn along your Christmas tree. This is another classic and cheap way to decorate your tree. It can also be a very tasty way to decorate!

  6. Step 6

Use family heirlooms to decorate your Christmas tree. If you don't already have some, ask a family member for a couple. These are free and are an old-fashioned touch to your Christmas tree.

  7. Step 7

String very small pictures on your Christmas tree. You could use pictures of your kids, for example. These are very inexpensive and look very cute on a Christmas tree. You may already have a small frame or two somewhere in your home.

on 11/16/2008 You can collect pine cones and acorns and put a cord around them and hang them up as is or spray them beforehand. You could make origami cranes and add those to the tree. Do not forget the popcorn and cranberry swags. I use red beads rather than cranberries because dropped berries stain my rug.

on 4/6/2008 I even hang jewelry on my Christmas tree. It's a great way to use orphan earrings.
