When your baby gets a good night's sleep, you do too!

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy

Step1
1. Babies love to be bounced, jiggled, rocked, swung. The best cradles are rockable for a reason.
Step2
2. Make sure the temperature is not too hot or cold in baby's room. The ideal temperature is 65-70F, but your baby may like it warmer. If you do raise the temperature above 70F be sure not too 'over bundle' baby.
Step3
3. Most babies love 'white noise.' If their room is close to a bathroom vent, you can leave it running while they are sleeping. You can also invest in a noise maker, or make your own by recording a dishwasher, hair dryer, or fan. Play it back on a loop so it runs all night.
Step4
4. New studies show babies who fall asleep with pacifier are less likely to die of SIDS. They are also better sleepers, as sucking is one way they can soothe themselves.
Step5
5. Feed your baby before bedtime so they don't wake up hungry. Also make sure they have clean diapers.
Step6
6. When your baby is old enough for a routine, you can try giving them a bath at night. This is not only relaxing but, if done consistently, it will also signal to your baby that it's time for bed.

on 12/9/2007 I agree whole heartedly. I figured out that as long as his little tummy wasn't empty, his diaper was dry, and he had his bath, he slept well. Also a change in sounds in the room woke him up. It had to be consistant sounds but very subtle.
