Voting is a wonderful opportunity to make a difference, but first you have to be registered. Here is how you register to vote in Iowa.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

    Pick up a registration form from your local county auditors office or online.

  2. Step 2

    Fill out the required information on the form, including your birth date, drivers license number or Social Security number.

  3. Step 3

    You don't have to fill in the "requested" information, such as telephone number, county and political party. However, if you don't fill out a party you will not be allowed to vote in the primary election.

  4. Step 4

    Drop off your registration at the county auditors office no later than one week after you received it.

Tips & Warnings
  • You can also register to vote when you apply for or renew a driver's license. Just ask at the counter.
  • You must register to vote 11 days before the election.
  • You can submit voter registrations for other people, with their consent. However, it is illegal to get paid to register others to vote.
  • It is against the law to falsify information on your voter registration.
  • You are not allowed to submit two registrations to vote.
