How to Make Eco-Friendly Powered Laundry Detergent

You can make yoyr own eco-friendly laundry detergent.

The chemicals used in laundry detergent can be harmful to the environment and may even cause allergic reactions in some people. Basic laundry detergent can be made with regular hand soap and other common items that are found in most any house. This very simple detergent recipe will make an inexpensive and eco-friendly laundry detergent.

Things You'll Need

• 1 bar of soap, not antibacterial
• 1/2-cup of borax
• 1/2-cup of baking soda
• Grater
• Wooden spoon
• Resealable container

1. Grate bar of soap into a resealable container. Use an un-scented natural soap without added chemicals or other additives.

2. Pour in a 1/2-cup of borax and a 1/2-cup baking soda.

3. Mix well with your hands, a wooden spoon or other utensil.

4. Use 1-tablespoon for small or lightly soiled loads and 2 tablespoons for large or heavily soiled loads.
