My indoor Cat!
My indoor Cat!

In this you will learn how to keep your beloved indoor pet entertained, even without them having to step foot out of your home!

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Treats
  • Shoe String
  • Balls
  • Imagination!
  1. Step 1

The first thing you need to do when trying to keep an indoor cat entertained is to use your imagination! The possibilities are endless! Find things around your house that you wouldn't normally think of and then use them. For example, using a shoe string. Walk around your living room with this shoe string and you will find that many cats will chase after it. Or, just stand there, holding the shoe string in the air and watch your cat jump up for it. It's simple things like this that will give the cat and the owner the most pleasure.

  2. Step 2

If you are struggling to find things for your cat to keep it entertained or to make sure that it has enough exercise throughout its day, there are always things that you can buy from most pet shops. Small toys for cats regularly have catnip in them, r the smell of catnip on them. This smell, for a reason I don't understand, drives the cats wild. If you are imaginative enough, why not make a small toy for your pet? Sewing a small shape of a mouse and then spraying it with catnip oil that you can buy will give you more satisfaction than buying one will!

  3. Step 3

Another thing you can do to keep your indoor cat entertained is to provide him or her with a tennis ball. I have given my cat a tennis ball and it seems to have masses of fun with it, rolling around wth it and batting it across the floor. I also have a bean bag ball that me and my partner throw to each other and my cat jumps up trying to catch it mid throw. That's always a funny one to watch. Basically, the best thing to do is to use a system of trail and error. If your cat seems to enjoy it, keep doing it, if it doesn't, move on to the next idea. Just remember cats love things that move and let that be the basis for you entertainment.

Tips & Warnings
  • Use your imagination and be creative. Your cat will appreciate the toy whether it is handmade or bought from a shop so if you can save your money, do it!
  • Ensure that if you are throwing things for your cat to catch, that there aren't obstacles in the way that he or she could potentially injure themselves on.
  • Boredom for cats equals destruction of your house! The more you provide for it to do, the less it will be bored and want to make a mess of things.
  • Playing with your cat can become addictive, as can making homemade toys for it!

on 2/9/2009 I've used a small fishing pole with a toy tied to the end. 'Cast' a few feet and reel it in. Cats seem to love this.
