Things You'll Need:
- Spare change
- Warm attire
- Transportation (cars or your legs both work just fine)
-
Step 1
Let's start with good karma. It's important to remember that, no matter how bad, bleak, or busy your life may seem right now, there is always someone who is worse off. Give a little of your money to those in need. And give a little of yourself to them, too - smile.
-
Step 2
For a cheap night out or a holiday date, grab a cup of hot chocolate or two. Drive or walk around the neighborhood to see decorated houses and buildings. Dusk is a good time to start, but be sure to dress appropriately for the weather.
-
Step 3
Find out where local tree lightings are happening. Town halls, city squares, and community centers are just a few places that have such festivities.
-
Step 4
Holiday arts and crafts fairs can be a festive group activity. Some that take place in large venues can be costly (i.e., they charge admission). However, places such as local nursing homes and hospitals sometimes have arts and crafts and baked goods fairs for the community to enjoy.
-
Step 5
Check your local newspapers for holiday events, tree lightings, charity events and food pantries. It's always good to give back to your community.
