Keeping up with childhood friends, a far away love or college buddies can be tough. A traveling journal is a creative and fun way to keep ties strong despite long distances between friends. Read on to learn how to start a traveling journal.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • An empty journal
  • Photos
  • Glue stick
  • Pen
  • Stickers
  • Large mailing envelope
  1. Step 1

Begin the journal with short instructions on how the book works. Include any rules about the length of time each person is allowed to keep the traveling journal before sending it out. Make sure each person knows who gets the book next.

  2. Step 2

Start the journal by giving each friend a page where they can write their current address. Personalize each page by cutting out a funny picture of the person and gluing it to the paper.

  3. Step 3

Create a journal entry. Write a note to your friends about what is going on in your life. Complete it by including pictures and decorating it with stickers.

  4. Step 4

Send the journal to the next person on the list and wait for the book to make it back to you.

Tips & Warnings
  • Choose a lightweight journal. It will keep postage costs down.
  • Keep the tradition going. The longer the traveling journal exists the more fun it will be to look back on past entries.
  • Be prepared to wait a while for the journal to return. Busy friends may take their time to complete their entries.
