How to Farm Gold in World of WarCraft

It’s about that time! You’ve hit 40, you want to get your mount, but you’re broke! What's a night elf to do? This simple How To will tell you! Don’t worry about someone else doing the same thing. This place has enough beasts and they respawn quick enough for at least 3 people to farm comfortably in the same area.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • A character about 40+
  • Skinning skill high enough to skin beasts level 40 - 44
  • Mining skill high enough to mine mithril is a plus
  • Lots of bag space

Step1
Go to Crystalvein Mine in Stranglethorn Vale. It’s across from the arena.
Step2
Start killing all the basilisks in site! There are some outside of the mine, but the best farming is inside. These have quick respawn times and you will keep very busy.
Step3
Keep ALL of the items you loot from the basilisks. Most items are gray items. That’s ok, because after less than an hour of farming this area these vendor items will amount to at least 5 to 7 gold from the vendor! If you’re lucky, Scale Belly will be there and he drops items that can be vendored for over 1 gold each!
Step4
Skin EVERYTHING! After an hour of farming this place, you will have about 2 stacks of heavy leather and 2 stacks of thick leather. Sell these at the Auction House for no less than 1 gold per stack.
Step5
This place is a mine. So of course it has mining veins. You’ll find iron, mithril, gold, and silver here. These are a nice auction bonus. The mithril sells the best.

Tips & Warnings

  • The first time I went here, I completely didn’t believe in it. I was just killing and killing and getting vendor trash and skins and thought it was a waste of time. Then I went to the vendor and turned in the vendor trash. I quickly went back to the mine for more. It was more than worth the effort. Don’t get discouraged just because you don’t hear that nice “ching” sound of coins going into your bags after every kill.
  • I prefer using a hunter for this. I send my pet in, get the basilisk’s health down then send my pet to the next one as I finish off the first.
  • If you are in the mid 40s, you can easily take on 2 possibly 3 basilisks at once.
  • I have a skinning / leatherworker hunter and a mining / jewelcrafter hunter. So sometimes I’ll send in the mining hunter to kill a few and mine some, then switch out to my skinning hunter and skin the beasts then kill a few more until I see another mining vein. This is a nice way to make the most out of what the mine has to offer if you don’t have someone that has both mining and skinning skills.
