Ward off any future Katrina's by drinking a Hurricane at New Year!

A little tradition that is beginning in New Orleans is to welcome the New Year with a traditional Hurricane to ward off any future events where mother nature is not so kind. Try this drink recipe for the New Year and help New Orleans stay nice and dry!

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Light Rum
  • Myers Dark Rum
  • Pineapple juice
  • Orange juice
  • Cranberry juice
  • Maraschino cherries
  • Lemon wedges and other fruit garnish
  • Hurricane glass
  1. Step 1

    Fill the hurricane glass with crushed ice.

  2. Step 2

    Add 1 1/2 ounces of light rum. Fill glass with equal parts pineapple, orange, and cranberry juice stopping about 1/2 inch from the top of the glass.

  3. Step 3

    Pour a splash of maraschino cherry juice (or grenadine) on top. Add 1 ounce of Myers Dark Rum on top of the drink.

  4. Step 4

    Use lemon wedges, cherries, and any other fresh fruit to garnish your New Year Hurricane!

Tips & Warnings
  • You can buy Hurricane mix to replace the juices but this recipe makes the best drink!
  • Pace yourself! These drinks are powerful!
