Endometriosis is when the lining of the uterus manages to get outside of the uterus. It can cause pain and irregular menstrual cycles. There is no known cause or cure for endometriosis however it can be managed through medication. Many women who have endometriosis don’t know that they have it and the only way to successfully diagnose it is by laparoscopic surgery. Once diagnosed, it is important to follow the prescribed treatment and contact your doctor with regular updates.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderate

Step1
Once you know you have endometriosis, do some research. Google it and read up on the disease and all of the ways that it can be treated. Since there is no known cure, you should be prepared to deal with it long term.
Step2
Follow your doctor’s orders. Your gynecologist will work with you to prescribe the best way to treat your endometriosis. Do what your doctor says. If you don’t agree with the prescribed treatment, go to your doctor to discuss options. Don’t attempt to treat yourself.
Step3
Adopt a healthy lifestyle. Do what you can to make sure your body is operating efficiently. Make sure you exercise, drink water and eat healthy. It can’t hurt.
Step4
Know your childbearing options. Sadly, endometriosis does affect fertility so you must talk to your doctor about your options. Decide what’s most important to you and how you would like to proceed.
Step5
Keep an open mind. Don’t assume the worse. As long as you proactively maintain your body, you should be able to live normally.
