Washing your down comforter doesn't have to be a major chore. All you have to do is follow these easy tips.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy

Things You’ll Need:

Step1
Place your down comforter in the washer.
Step2
Select the delicate cycle and cool water setting.
Step3
Add your laundry detergent to the load. Regular laundry detergent is fine.
Step4
After the wash cycle is complete, place the comforter in the dryer with 2 tennis balls. Dry on low heat.
Step5
When the cycle ends, check the comforter for dryness. Run it again if necessary.
Step6
If you're still not sure the down is completely dry (important for preventing mildew), set the comforter out in the sun for a few hours before using.

Tips & Warnings

  • Place a duvet cover on your comforter to keep it clean longer.
  • To limit moisture buildup between washings, place your comforter out in the sun for a few hours every 2 months.
  • Most manufacturer's recommend that you only wash a down comforter once or twice a year.
