Wake Surfing
Wake Surfing

Wake Surfing is a blast and a terrific alternative to water skiing or wake boarding

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Boat
  • Wake surfing board
  • Tow rope
  • Life jacket
  1. Step 1

Shorten a ski rope to the length of 5 feet from the stern (the rear) of the boat.

  2. Step 2

Jump in the water with a life jacket and surf board

  3. Step 3

Grab the baton end of rope

  4. Step 4

Get in crouched position directly behind and to the outside of one of the wakes with your feet sticking out of water. Place the board underneath your exposed feet so that the nose of the board is pointing towards the inside of the boats wake. Place the balls of your feet on inside rail of surfboard so that the board is sideways (parallel) to the water, press down on the balls of your feet until the board is flipped up. Have the driver throttle very slowly so that board flips up and your feet are firmly planted on the board. Say "Hit it" and driver will accelerate. You will start off sideways, then when the board planes, turn the nose downward and surf down side of the boats wake.

Tips & Warnings
  • Once you get good at surfing the boats wake, you can actually let go of the tow rope and surf without the aid of the rope so long as the driver keeps the speed right. About 12 mph.
  • Stay well clear of the propeller. Do not attempt without supervision by an expert. Wear life jacket at all times.
