Trying to teach your child the alphabet? A great learning tool is an alphabet book and making a personalized one with your child is a wonderful way to be creative and make learning fun.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy

Things You’ll Need:

Step1
Write capital and lower-case letters on paper, putting one letter on each page. Make the letters block style so you and your child can color them in.
Step2
Gather photos and magazines to find pictures for the books. “A” could be for “apple” but it also could be for “Aunt Ashley.” Set aside or cut out the pictures you plan to use.
Step3
Glue the photos on the appropriate pages. The number of pictures you’d like to use per page is up to you.
Step4
Create a cover page with a book title and a picture of your child on it.
Step5
Once all of the pages are complete, put them in alphabetical order, punch holes and tie the pages together with a ribbon.
Step6
Read the book together and practice those ABCs!

Tips & Warnings

  • You child probably won’t have the patience to tackle all of the pages at one time (and you might not, either!) so work on a few pages at a time.
  • Mead Composition Books are great to use because of their sturdy covers.
