Step 1
Carnegie Deli. While this is a tourist trap, it is also home to a great matzoh ball soup. The balls here are huge and filling, and a bowl of soup can actually be a meal here.
-
Step 2
Katz's Deli. This legendary deli is a great place to go when your in the neighborhood. The service is fast and the soup's always fresh. While not as big as Carnegie, Katz's holds it's own. Pair this soup with a corned beef sandwich on rye for an out-of-body experience.

Step 3
Cafe Edison. Matzoh Ball soup is only one of a dozen or more that this mainstay makes daily. It's also the best. This one has more chicken than it's competitors and has a hearty taste that's best on a cold and wet day.

Step 4
Wherever you go, always ask for a side of rye bread with butter. The two flavors complement each other nicely and are much better than crackers. Also matzoh is an acquired taste. If you don't like it at first, give it a little time and try again.
