Wash egg with soap and water. Wash as many as you would like to make.
Step2
Making Holes in Egg
Using large needle, carefully poke a hole in each end of each egg, one at a time. Make one of the holes larger than the other (about 1/2 inch in diameter).
Step3
Blowing out egg
With the large hole facing the bowl, blow into the smaller hole, blowing out all of the egg white and yolk into the bowl. Repeat with each egg. Use the blown out egg white and yolk in a recipe, or make scrambled eggs.
Step4
Carefully rinse out the blown out eggs and allow to dry completely.
Step5
Home Made Confetti
While your eggs are drying, you need to get some confetti. You can buy ready made confetti at party supply stores, or you can easily make your own using scissors, a 3-hole punch (check the one at the office!), or a paper shredder.
Step6
Once your egg is dry, place a piece of masking tape over the small hole and put the confetti into the large hole. You can make the hole larger if you need to, but don't make it any wider than your masking tape.
Step7
Confetti Egg Loaded and Ready
After your egg is filled with confetti, cover the large hole with masking tape and decorate it however you want with markers, acrylic paint pens, glue, glitter, etc. Allow to dry.
Step8
At the stroke of midnight on New Year's Day, smash one of these confetti eggs over the head of an unsuspecting party guest. The egg EXPLODES, and confetti flies everywhere. Lots of fun!
Tips & Warnings
Blow out and dry eggs at least one day in advance.
The little paper circles from 3-hole punches make excellent confetti.
This project is a great one for kids, with supervision.
You can use these confetti eggs for birthday parties, April Fools Day, graduations, weddings, etc.
Be sure to wash the egg before putting your mouth on it to blow it out. Failure to do so may result in illness.
Blown out eggs are very fragile. Handle with care.
