No matter where in the country or world you're from, this delectable treat is sure to please. Pizza has grown immensely in both its variety and popularity. Whether you enjoy a New York thin crust style or deep dish Chicago goodness, there is no denying that pizza is a staple of New York City cuisine. A pizza parlor can be found on most every city street and corner, but choosing the best of the best is a must.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • A love of pizza
  • Some walking shoes
  • A Manhattan guidemap

Step1
Before you embark on your quest for the tastiest pizza in the Big Apple, put on your walking shoes and break out the Manhattan guidemap. You want to head out hungry and return a satisfied pizza connoisseur.
Step2
Begin your journey by frequenting the busiest pizza parlors you can find. There is a reason for lines and in Manhattan, the most crowded hotspots usually house the best food, pizza included.
Step3
Ask the locals. If your idea of an authentic New York City experience doesn't include a romp through Times Square, consider exploring various sections of the city. A stroll through Greenwich Village is sure to result in several pizza parlor choices. If you aren't sure which to try, ask someone who looks like they're a native New Yorker.
Step4
Look for lunch specials. If you pass several pizza places, pick one with a great lunch deal. Many restaurants offer two for one deals, which include a can of soda along with the slices.
Step5
Try out a well-renowned pizza parlor. For example, Lombardi's brick oven pizza is famous for a reason. Not only have they been around for years, they have quite a loyal following.
Step6
Follow your nose. If it smells good, chances are it tastes good too. Above all else, look for a place that makes fresh slices. No one wants a slice of pizza that has been sitting under a heating lamp for half an hour. If you look for fresh pizza, you're sure to encounter a delicious slice of New York heaven.

Tips & Warnings

  • Don't be afraid to try out a hole in the wall! The rent is high in New York and the tiniest place may have the yummiest food.
  • Don't go by only what a guidebook says.
  • Little Italy isn't the only place for pizza in the huge metropolis we call Manhattan.
