Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Things You’ll Need:
- grated raw potato
- cheese cloth
- cotton balls
- green or herbal tea
- milk
- cucumber slices
Step1
Puffy, tired eyes are your body's way of telling you that you need sleep. Sleep depravation makes the skin surrounding your eyes look darker, so while it might be difficult to fit in those 8 hours a night, if you want to avoid being plagued by bags, it's essential.
Step2
Stress has been linked to production of melanin under your eyes, causing a baggy appearance. Reducing stress in your life will do your mind and body good. Vitamin B can help your body (and your eyes) deal with the stresses of the day ahead.
Step3
Avoid sodium, diuretics and caffeine. Each is proven to promote water retention which can lead to swelling or puffiness.
Step4
Make sure you're getting enough fluids. Water will keep your body well-hydrated. It's vital for your body to run efficiently and promotes good health. Besides flushing out toxins, it will also reduce your body's need to retain fluids.
Step5
Smoking can irritate your eyes, causing them to be bloodshot or puffy. Cutting back on your habit may be difficult, but your eyes will thank you for it.
Smoking (or passive smoking) can deplete your body of vitamin C, so ensure that you are having enough to counteract its eye-aging effects.
Step6
To lighten the effects of dark circles under your eyes, place grated raw potato in a cheese cloth and rest on your eyes for 10-15 minutes. Gently wash off residue and apply your daily moisturiser.
Step7
You only have one set of eyes, so pamper them regularly. Lay slightly chilled cucumber slices, used green or herbal teabags or cotton balls soaked in whole milk on your eyes for 10-15 minutes on a regular basis. Not only will it allow you the chance to destress, it will cool your eyes and reduce puffiness too!
