Don't you love just about anything you can do with French bread, hear is one more thing you can do with it. It is also a great way to use up that left over Christmas turkey and ham.
2 cups meat, cooked and chopped (beef, chicken, turkey or ham).
2 cups grated Swiss or Cheddar cheese.
1 cup mayonnaise.
1/2 cup canned mushrooms, drained and sliced.
1/2 cup chopped onion.
1/4 cup green pepper, chopped.
1 Tbsp. garlic powder.
1/4 tsp. pepper.
1/4 Tbsp. onion salt.
Step1
Oven.
Preheat oven to 400 degrees.
Step2
Tear bread into pieces.
Slice French bread in half lengthwise. Core out bread, making two shells and set aside. Take cored-out bread and tear into small pieces.
Step3
Mix well.
Place bread pieces in a large mixing bowl. Add remaining ingredients. Mix well and stuff back into the two shells.
Step4
Stuff shells and bake.
Place filled bread shells, stuffing side up, on an ungreased cookie sheet. Bake about 1 hour or until cheese is melted all the way through.
Step5
Slice and serve.
Cut into serving size slices and serve. We like potato wedges and salad with this bread. Will serve at least six.
Tips & Warnings
This is a great dish to take to a party, picnic, etc.
If it cooks too long the shells will get to hard to eat.
