Need some blue crabs for dinner tonight?

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • Chicken parts (livers, necks, skin)
  • Fishing line
  • Crabbing nets
  • Ice chest, ¼ full of gulf water
  • Gloves

Step1
Tie chicken parts to the bottom of the crabbing net.
Step2
Throw out the crabbing net into the water or channel and let it sink slowly in shallow water. There are water channels, or canals, all along the roads headed towards the Gulf of Mexico. These are the best places to catch a bunch of crabs!!
Step3
Hold or tie down the line to the net.
Step4
Watch the net carefully for crabs to enter.
Step5
When the net is full, empty into the ice chest, and start again at Step 1.

Tips & Warnings

  • The older the chicken parts, the better your catch should be!
  • Gloves are a good idea, as you may have trouble getting the crabs out of the net into the ice chest.
  • Crabs do pinch,so watch out for the pinchers!!
  • Be sure you are crabbing in a designated/approved area. Some of the Cajuns carry weapons.
