You figured out how to put a profile photo on your Myspace page at Myspace.com. But a month later, you decided you didn't like it, or took a better shot, so you want to change the profile photo. You tried to change the photo, but didn't have much luck. This article will explain the steps to change the profile picture on your Myspace.com page.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • New photo uploaded to your Myspace photo album/s from the steps in Section 1.

How to Upload the New Photo for Your Profile

  1. Step 1

Log on to your Myspace account. You should immediately be taken to your home page.

  2. Step 2

Scroll down on the left hand side of your Myspace home page to the section "Control panel."

  3. Step 3

In the control panel section, you will find a link for "photos." Click on this link. This will take you to your photo page.

  4. Step 4

At the top of your photo page, there is a blue link titled "Upload photos." Click on this link.

  5. Step 5

This should take you to the Upload Photo form. If it doesn't, scroll down to the sentence "If you don't see the Upload Photo form above click here," and click "Here."

Go to your computer hard drive, and select the photo you are going to upload that you have ownership of or copyrights to. Then, select "browse" on the photo upload form. Select the photo for upload in the window that opens, and click on "Open." This will start loading the photo onto the photo upload page.

  7. Step 7

Click "Next" on the right of the photo upload form. This will take you to a page where you must choose an album. Choose an album and then hit "Upload" on the bottom right. When the upload is complete, it will say "uploading photos- 100% complete" and below that you will see "successful" in parentheses.

  8. Step 8

Click "Next" again. This will take you to the photo you've loaded, and allow you to "tag" it, by adding a caption. Once you add a caption hit "Save," and you will directed to the album where the photo has been added.

  9. How to Change the Old Photo to the New Photo

  10. Step 1

Go to your Myspace photos. To do this, log on to Myspace, and click "Photos" on the control panel on the left. This takes you to your photo page.

  11. Step 2

Click on the caption title of the album where your new photo is located (should be in blue).

  12. Step 3

You should see all the photos in that album now, including the one you want to use. Click on the photo itself.

  13. Step 4

This should pull up a large image of the photo. Above the image, (and actually to the right of where you see your old profile photo), you should see a blue link that says "Set as default." Click on this. It will ask if you are sure you want this as your default, choose "Okay."

  14. Step 5

The old photo on the left should change to the new photo. You can test to make sure the change was successful by clicking on "Home" at the top left of the photo page.

  15. Step 6

When you see your home page, is the new photo at the top left? To see the page visitors to your Myspace page will see, click on the link where it says "My URL: myspace.com....." The new photo should be in the upper left hand corner.

Tips & Warnings
  • You can repeat this process anytime to change your profile photo again and again!
  • Use photos that have a high enough quality and resolution to be seen clearly on your Myspace page (unless, of course, you are purposefully going for the "fuzzy" look).
  • Only use photos that you have the rights to. Most photos you took yourself will be okay, or ones you have been given permission to use by the owner.
  • A photo you took yourself or gained permission to use could violate Myspace policies if it includes nudity or obscenity, or gives away personal information such as a phone number or address (check Myspace policies, source listed below).
