How to Find a Great Place to Ring in the New Year in NYC

There are countless ways to spend New Year's Eve in New York. The most obvious is in Times Square with millions of others. If you want something more fun and original, look no further. Here's some great places to ring in the New Year!

1. The Dresden Dolls. This duo shows the punk rock and cabaret can meet at a bar for a drink or ten. The music is energized with creative lyrics. The Dolls also put on a great show. Lots of costumes and antics plus plenty of booze will ensure you have a great time.
2. Webster Hall. Many clubs have New Year's events but not many feature fire displays, go-go dancers, live music and the largest balloon drop you'll ever see. Plus 4-6 hour open bar with premium liquor and breakfast buffet at 2am.
3. Element. One of the nicest clubs in New York. The staff is also a lot nicer than at most places. Plus with a 6 hour (9-3am) open bar for $75 you can't go wrong.
4. Mars 2112. For a completely different experience head to Mars 2112. Located in Times Square with the cheesiest faux mars decor, this could be a perfect place for drunken hallucinations. Be sure to enter before 11:30pm because cops aren't letting anyone near Times Square after that.
