After reading this article you should be able to organize (with ease) your Internet Favorites using Vista and Internet Explorer 7.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Computer
  • Vista operating system
  • a block or blocks of time
  1. Step 1

In Vista, "Your Favorites" are located on the Internet Explorer tool bar on the far left side of the screen. they are indicated by a yellow star. This is considered your "Favorites Center."

  2. Step 2

You want to be sure and be on the website you wish to add or at a point where you wish to rearrange (or organize) your Favorites, also called links, and single left click on the yellow star with the small green sign to the left of the Favorites Center.

  3. Step 3

At this point, you will want to decide whether you wish to add this Favorite website into your general Favorites as a link or decide where you wish to add this Favorite. This is a major part of organizing your Favorites. You may wish to create a new folder to file the website. To do this, you will need to click on "New Folder" and name it. For example, you could be on Microsoft Web sites like MSN or MSNBC and want to create a file called NEWS. This would enable you to add all "news-related" website into this ingle folder.

  4. Step 4

With Vista, you are always asked if you wish to delete a folder before you actually delete it. This safety net prevents you from deleting something by mistake. to delete folders or sub-folders, etc, you would right click on "delete."

  5. Step 5

There are almost an infinite number of ways to organize web sites so your way of organizing may be completely different from mine - don't get stuck into one specific way of organizing. Feel free to think outside the box and make the filing system one that you will be able to work with and have fun with - don't make it so complex that you will not want to keep it up!

Tips & Warnings
  • Pick an organizing system that works for you and make it fun!
  • Do not get stuck into thinking that there is a right or wrong way of organizing.

on 12/13/2007 Vista is not in my future. I just finally upgraded to XP a month ago. And there's still a part of me that wants to go back to Win98SE - but Vista, haven't heard one good thing about it.
