Difficulty: Moderately Challenging
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Find a foundation for student exchange. There are many companies that place foreign exchange students in America. The easiest part is applying to be a coordinator for one or more of them.

  2. Step 2

Get trained and educated. Be serious about the things you're taught. Pay close attention and take notes. You will be working with the world's children and that is a very important job.

  3. Step 3

Make contact with all the high schools in your area. Send a formal letter of introduction to the principle letting him or her know that you are in the business of placing foreign exchange students in the school.

  4. Step 4

Gather together the profiles and pictures of the students you plan to place. Gather all your information on host family rights and responsibilities. You may want to compile small information packets that can answer all the basic questions.

  5. Step 5

Consider all your family and friends as host families. Approach them about the opportunity. If they are not able to host, ask if they can refer a loving host family.

Tips & Warnings
  • Contact teachers, churches and other businesses for referrals.
  • Carry your student profiles with you everywhere.
  • It's a long process, so have patience.
