Things You'll Need:
- Old grocery bags
- scissors
- wax paper
- iron
- sewing machine
-
Step 1
Find plastic grocery bags fold the bag into a smaller square so that it's four pieces thick. If the bag has ink on it make sure to fold that on the inside of the bag, because the ink will run.
-
Step 2
Cut the edges off the bag so the edges of the square become straight. It should be a perfect square.
-
Step 3
Put the pieces of grocery bag between two pieces of wax paper like a sandwich. Iron the "sandwich" on a low setting until the four pieces of plastic becomes one thick sturdy piece. If they can be separated at any point iron them again until they stop separating.
-
Step 4
Repeat steps one through three until you have enough material to make a bag , or use it as material for whatever you like. A messenger bag seems to be more practical and blue prints for them can be found online.

on 5/28/2009 How to make messenger bags out of old grocery bags is something I never heard of. I'll have to try this. Smile!

on 6/13/2008 I don't think wax paper is best, since it will just gunk up your iron. Try parchment instead.

on 1/11/2008 This is a good idea for making free or should I say "green" sturdy plastic for many projects. Recyled plastic.
