How to Make a Messenger Bag Out of an Old Grocery Bag
Plastic grocery bags do not need to be used once and then discarded. You can make a messenger-type bag out of your old grocery bags and extend their usability. Supplies from around the home will be needed, as well as some tools to change the grocery bag into a messenger-type bag.

1
Place a bath towel on a table. Stand an iron on the towel and plug its power cord into an outlet. Set the temperature control on the iron above the "Polyester" setting. If there are only numbers on the iron, set the number above "3" but below "5."
-
2
Flip the plastic grocery bag inside out if it has any printing on it. Otherwise you can ignore this step.
-
-
3
Cut through the bottom of the bag with the scissors. Cut off the two handles on the bag with the scissors. Cut through a side of the bag with the scissors.
-
4
Lay the plastic bag flat on the towel. Fold one side of the bag over to the other. Do this procedure a second time. Smooth the bag down with your fingers.
-
5
Lay a sheet of wax paper on the towel. Place the bag on the wax paper. Place a second sheet of wax paper on top of the bag.
-
6
Place the iron on a corner of the wax paper and run it to the other side. Reverse the direction while moving the iron in small circles on the wax paper. Continue to run the iron over the wax paper from one end to the other and from one side to the other. Continue to run the iron over the wax paper for at least two minutes.
-
7
Flip the wax paper sandwich over. Repeat the procedure with the iron on the wax paper for a minimum of two minutes. Peel the wax paper off the plastic bag. Place the iron aside. Turn the iron off and unplug its cord from the outlet.
-
8
Repeat this entire procedure with two more plastic bags. Cut one of the plastic bags in half, after it has been ironed.
-
9
Place the two plastic bags together. Sew one end and both sides of the two bags together with white thread using a needle.
-
10
Place the end of one of the two cut pieces of plastic bag against the end of the sewed together bags at the open end.
-
11
Sew the end of the cut piece to the bag with white thread using a needle. Turn the sewed together bags over. Repeat this procedure with the other cut piece of the bag, sewing it to the open end as well.
