Things You'll Need:
- Cloth strip mop
- Vacuum with hard floor attachment
- Door mats
- Vinegar or Dish Soap
-
Step 1
Keep as much dirt and abrasive materials from outside from coming in as you can by placing good door mats at each entrance of your home. Having people remove their shoes at the door helps to prevent harmful sand and dirt from scratching your floors.
-
Step 2
Sweep or vacuum your bamboo floors daily or every other day. Use a hard floor brush attachment on your vacuum cleaner or a regular broom to prevent damage to the floor.
-
Step 3
If your bamboo floor needs cleaning you can use a simple solution of a half a bucket of water along with a few drops of mild dish detergent or 1/4 cup of vinegar. Mop with a cloth strip mop that has been well wrung out to barely wet. Cloth strip mops allow for more water to be wrung out than other types of mops. Do not use ordinary floor cleaners or oil soaps on your bamboo floors.
-
Step 4
Use floor protector pads on the legs of your furniture to prevent scratching and wear marks.
-
Step 5
Use area rugs in high traffic areas to minimize wear and damage to the floors.
