How to Make Persimmon Bread

Persimmon bread has the same great taste and texture as persimmon cookies except it is made into a bread. Persimmon bread is delicious anytime of the day when you want a snack and persimmon bread is especially enjoyable with a hot cup of coffee or tea.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 1 tsp. baking soda
  • 1 cup Hachiya Persimmon pulp
  • 2 1/2 cups flour
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 2 1/2 tsp. baking powder
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1 tsp. cinnamon
  • 1 tsp. nutmeg
  • 1 egg
  • 1/3 cup milk
  • 3 tbsp. cooking oil
  • 1 cup chopped nuts

    Persimmon Bread

  1. Step 1

    Preheat oven 350 degrees. Grease and flour 5x9-inch loaf pan.

  2. Step 2

    Stir baking soda into persimmon pulp and set aside.

  3. Step 3

    Combine flour, sugar, brown sugar, baking powder, salt, cinnamon and nutmeg in a medium bowl. Set aside.

  4. Step 4

    Stir egg, milk, oil, and persimmon pulp together in a large bowl.

  5. Step 5

    Add flour mixture to persimmon mixture and stir until well blended. Stir in nuts.

  6. Step 6

    Pour batter into greased and floured loaf pan.

  7. Step 7

    Bake 1 hour and 15 minutes, or until wooden toothpick inserted in the middle of the bread comes out clean. Remove from oven and turn out on a cooling rack; cool completely.
