Let’s face it. America is built on consumerism and consumerism is built on product advertisements. Advertising can take on many forms in many media, but it all boils down to two important elements–pictures and words. And even though a picture is worth a thousand words, a caption underneath can embellish everything.

Difficulty: Challenging
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Notepad and pen or pencil
  • The product
  • Digital camera
  • A computer preferably a MacIntosh with Adobe Photoshop program
  • Imagination
  1. Step 1

Research the general public. Take polls to find out how people will relate to the product to be advertised and create your advertisement accordingly.

  2. Step 2

Using a digital camera, take a picture of the product or some related object.

  3. Step 3

Download the picture on to the computer screen.

  4. Step 4

Embellish the picture by making it lighter or darker and turning it at an angle in one direction or another in a way that would catch the readers attention.

  5. Step 5

Write a short blurb about the product on the same page. Don’t be too wordy. That will turn people off.

  6. Step 6

Distort your fonts in a way to get your point across. If necessary, use background symbols in your text to emphasize certain words and phrases.

  7. Step 7

Check for any adjustments you want to make.

  8. Step 8

    Print it out.
