How to Skip Nightclub Lines

Whether you frequent ritzy dance clubs or prefer the subtle sophistication of upscale lounges, getting inside the door at a hot spot can be a difficult endeavor! Simply saying and doing the right things help you bypass the line at your favorite nightclub, regardless of what city you're in.

1. When approaching a bouncer, be sure to keep a smile on your face. Have your ID out and tell them you can't wait to get the party started. Let's face it. Any nightclub wants a fun-loving patron inside.
2. If you see a long line at the door, don't automatically join it. Walk right past the velvet ropes and strike up a conversation with the club staff.
3. Simply show interest in the club itself or the music featured on any particular evening. You'll better your chances of making it past the line.
4. Walk like you belong. Even if you're going at it alone and don't have VIP status, act like the superstar you know you truly are!
5. Wear something that makes you stand out. It's so important to look and act like an individual.
6. Walk right up to the staff members with clipboards. Chances are, they're taking down email addresses for future club promotions and beginning a friendly dialogue with one may help you skip the line.

• Buy a bottle. If you opt to purchase a table or bottle with some buds, you'll walk right by those velvet ropes.
• Dress according to club rules. If it's a high-class place, wear something elegant and sophisticated.
• Never give bouncers an attitude. They decide whether or not you'll get inside.
• Don't act like you're too good to be there.
• Avoid saying you know someone who works there. Most VIPs are on designated lists previously arranged by club staff.
