Are you a certified sports nut? Do you watch the same ESPN Sports Center more than 3 times? Being a sports nut is easy until a wife or girlfriend enters the picture. When that happens, a balance must be struck.
Admit you have a problem. If you are watching sports Monday through Sunday it is likely you do. After admitting it you can then address the problem.
Step2
Try and see it from your wife's perspective. She needs attention, acknowledgment that you care about her. Stop shoving her aside for just another game.
Step3
Limit yourself. Come on guys there is a sporting event almost nightly, do you need to watch/attend all of them? The answer is no. First, whatever you miss will be shown at least 25 times the next morning on ESPN. Set aside a few nights for your wife. Take her out, watch something she wants to watch or just talk. It's not hard and the benefits will be bountiful.
Step4
Prioritize your games. This requires organization, search the week's events and rank them. Watch the most interesting and let the lesser games go. If you hit the off button during a sporting event and spend time with her she will feel wanted. After you have done this with a lesser game you can take the next step.
Step5
Just do it! Walk away from a big game and take her...Shopping. Yes, shopping, again this is an act of appreciation and love. Stop being a selfish pig, take her out and let her shop. Buy her lunch and enjoy the time together
Step6
If you show just a bit of compromise she will have no problem letting you watch the games that really count. So, don't be a hog, walk away and establish a balance between games and love.
Tips & Warnings
Showing your wife some love outside the bedroom can lead to a lot more inside it.
