Often times we are in such a big hurry to leave the house in the morning that we don't have the time to eat a nutritious breakfast. We end up settling for a greasy fast food breakfast or none at all. No more! There is a way to fit in time to have a healthy morning breakfast by making a delicious smoothie. These drinks are easy to make and take very little time. Another great thing about smoothies is that you can add your favorite fruits and vegetables, along with any other nutrients, to them. Does this Spark an idea?

Things You'll Need

  • Knife
  • Blender
  • Ice
  • 1/4 cup orange juice
  • 2/3 cup low-fat milk
  • 1/4 tsp. vanilla
  • 2/3 cup honey
  • 1 ripe banana
  • 4 ice cubes
  • 1/4 cup vanilla yogurt
  • 3/4 cup blueberries
  • 1/2 cup crushed ice
  • 3/4 cup skim milk
  • 1 banana
  • 1.5 tsp. sugar
  • 1/2 tsp. vanilla
  • 1 cup soy milk
  • 14 strawberries
  • 1/2 cup of oats
  • 1/2 cup of low fat yogurt
  • 1 cup of acai berry juice
  • 1 cup of blueberries
  • 1/2 cup of cherries
  • 3 ice cubes
  • 2 tbsp. raspberry preserves
  • 6 oz. raspberry low fat yogurt
  • 2/3 cup fat free milk
  • 1/2 cup silken tofu
  • 1 cup blueberries

Instructions

  1. Orange Juice and Banana Breakfast Smoothie

      Cut the banana into equal-size pieces.

      Pour the 1/4 cup of orange juice, 2/3 cup of low fat milk, 1/4 tsp. of vanilla, 2/3 cup of honey, the cut up banana and 4 ice cubes into the blender.

      Blend the concoction until it is smooth. Pour the drink into a cup and enjoy.

    Blueberry and Banana Breakfast Smoothie

      Cut the banana into large chunks.

      Pour the 1/4 cup of vanilla yogurt, 3/4 cup of blueberries, 1/2 cup of crushed ice, 3/4 cup of skim milk, and banana chunks into your blender. Use less ice if your blueberries are frozen.

      Blend the concoction until it is smoothed to your liking. Pour the smoothie into your favorite cup and enjoy.

    Strawberry, Oatmeal and Banana Smoothie

      Slice the banana into five or six pieces.

      Pour 1.5 cups of sugar, 1/2 tsp. of vanilla, 1 cup of soy milk, 14 strawberries, 1/2 cup of oats, and banana into the blender. Add ice to the ingredients if the strawberries are not frozen.

    Blueberry and Cherry Antioxidant Breakfast Smoothie

      Combine 1/2 cup of low fat yogurt, 1 cup of acai berry juice, 1 cup of blueberries, 1/2 cup of cherries and 3 ice cubes.

      Stir the mixture until homogenous and pour all of the ingredients into the blender.

    Blueberry Protein Breakfast Smoothie

      Combine 2 tbsp. of raspberry preserves, 6 oz. of raspberry low fat yogurt, 2/3 cup of fat free milk, 1/2 cup of silken tofu and 1 cup of blueberries.

      Pour all of the ingredients into the blender. Add ice if the blueberries and raspberries are not frozen.

Tips & Warnings

  • Use your favorite combination of fruits and vegetables to make your own original smoothie.

  • Add sugar or sugar substitute to your ingredients in order to sweeten your drink.

  • Add more ice to thicken your smoothie.
