If you're tired of plain old sugar, impress your friends with this vanilla-infused sugar recipe.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 2 cups white, granulated sugar
  • Whole vanilla bean
  1. Step 1

Find a jar with a tight-fitting lid that will hold 2 cups of sugar with a little room to spare.

  2. Step 2

Pour the sugar into the jar.

  3. Step 3

Slice the vanilla bean lengthwise, exposing the vanilla beans.

  4. Step 4

Scrape out the seeds and put them in with the sugar. Bury the bean in the sugar as well.

  5. Step 5

    Fasten the lid tightly.

  6. Step 6

Shake the jar to distribute the vanilla bean and seeds through the sugar.

  7. Step 7

Leave the sugar to sit for 1-2 weeks.

Tips & Warnings
  • The recipe is to taste, so if you prefer a stronger vanilla flavour, increase the sugar to vanilla bean ration. Either cut down on the amount of sugar or add in another vanilla bean.
  • This sugar tastes great in coffee.
