Security systems cost a lot when money is as tight as it is these days. Here are a few idea's for you to make it appear you are home when you're on a short or longer vacation!

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • A Plan!
Step1
Begin by making it a habit to leave the garage door shut as much as possible. If you are traveling by car, load luggage while car is in the garage before opening the door.
Step2
You can purchase a "timer" at your local hardware store that allows you to set the time for lights to turn on & off at designated times for either/or indoor and outdoor lights. ( Make it a habit to leave outside lights on all the time! that's a good rule!)

If you have a trusted neighbor, you could make arrangements with them
to drop by at a certain time, turn a few lights/ T.V. on, and open/close the blinds.
Step3
cancel newspaper subscriptions, don't suspend the services!

If you intend to be away for a long time, you could ask your local police department to drive by from time to time.
