Instructions

  1. Paint the Walls

    • 1

Pick a shade of beige that you like. Purchase enough of the lightest color to paint the entire room. Choose a second color in the same family a shade or two darker, and a quart of a third color darker than the last.

    • 2

Prepare the room for painting. Then paint it in a light beige tone.

    • 3

Using the medium shade color, mix this color 50/50 with glaze medium, also available in the paint department of the hardware store.

    • 4

Proceed to sponge the second color onto the walls in an irregular pattern. Do not try to completely cover the first color; the goal is the create texture and depth in the wall.

    • 5

Finally, with the third color, draw veins (lines in the wall) that resemble the lines in marble. Do not get carried away with this step. A few of these veins per wall are plenty.

    • 6

Add faux wallpaper columns to the wall for a finishing touch.

    Accessorize

    • 7

The furniture that you use in this teen bedroom theme should be simple with clean lines. If you wish to paint old furniture, it should be painted in a light or neutral color and distressed. For a girl, a canopy beddressed in lightweight white drapes would be perfect.

If possible, a wood floor is best for this style. If you cannot install a wood floor, use a light colored area rug. Use something with a natural fiber like jute or sisal can be layered over existing flooring and will go well with the theme.

Bedding should be simple and neutral colored. Look for subtle stripes, and simple textured fabrics for bedding. For window treatments, use lightweight sheer fabrics draped at the window (the same fabrics you would use for the canopy bed). You can also drape these same fabrics around the room.

Accessories the room with plaster pillars purchased at home décor stores. You can top them with glass to create desks, and electronic stands. You should also use them to hold ivy plants, which will bring the room to life.
