Things You'll Need:
- Time and patience
- Reading materials
- Materials like pens and paper
-
Step 1
Buy a Spanish-English dictionary to look up new words and work on your vocabulary later.
-
Step 2
Buy a book in Spanish, a Spanish magazine, or a newspaper in Spanish from your bookstore or from your neighborhood if possible.
-
Step 3
Use your dictionary to carefully translate a short article in the paper or a page from the magazine or book.
-
Step 4
Pay attention to variations of words. For example: I read and he reads are "leo" and "lee" respectively.
-
Step 5
Record the variations in verbs to learn how to conjugate. Books are best for this, as you will only learn third person and third person plural from news media.
-
Step 6
Buy and use a Spanish textbook if you need additional help with the grammar. This is highly recommended.
-
Step 7
Continue to add to your vocabulary by reading more in Spanish and studying new words as you encounter them.
-
Step 8
Read lots of media in Spanish once you have learned it to get practice and to learn more new words.
