How to Meet People in Boston

Beantown can seem like a really intimidating, difficult place to meet people simply because there are so many--ironic, no? However, it's easy to meet people once you find your niche and make a little effort to get out into the community and socialize.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Take a class. Since Boston is such a great college town, think about enrolling in a class or two through an extension program. Not only will you meet people who are interested in the same things as you, but you'll learn something as well.

  2. Step 2

Become a regular. Choose a coffee shop, cafe or lunch spot and visit it regularly. You'll find people become friendlier in Boston the more often they see you and you may meet other regulars.

  3. Step 3

Ride the T. You never know who else you'll meet while on the subway and public transportation is just another way you can save the environment.

  4. Step 4

Get involved. There are tons of movements to join in Boston since it's such a diverse city. Politics, the environment and education are always active topics in the community.

  5. Step 5

Have fun. Go to shows, take dance classes, go to readings, see plays and enjoy the city. Chances are, while you're having fun other people are too, and will be in the mood to mingle.
