As a high school or college student it is extremely difficult to have enough money when the holidays or birthdays come around to get a gift for your family. You know you have to get something special for your Mom. There is no way around it. Once you’re out of grade school the macaroni art just won’t suffice anymore. But there is one surefire way to make your Mom a gift that she’ll love. The best part; it’s free and it works for any occasion from Christmas to Mother’s Day to her birthday. Check it out.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • Computer
  • Pictures
  • Scanner
  • Music

Step1
Put together a multimedia slideshow that is touching and sweet. All you need is a laptop, a scanner and Window’s Movie Maker or any other multimedia slideshow maker that comes standard on all Windows or Macs.
Step2
Start scanning those pictures into your computer. Next time you are home take some time late at night to go through the old photo albums and packets of pictures. Make sure you are quiet about it so she won’t suspect it. Get a range of pictures from when you were a kid all the way up to the most recent. Always scan more than you think you’ll use.
Step3
Try to find a few simple video clips you can splice in. It adds a change of pace and will be a real tear jerker if you can find the right ones. Put those on your computer as well.
Step4
Find a song that has some real meaning for both you and your Mom. Definitely make sure it is a song she will know. Think about a slow, sweet song such as “I Hope You Dance” by Leanne Womack.
Step5
Start with a message and then have the music start. You can add all sorts of effects like making the pictures look like old slides or zoom in’s. Make the pictures and videos meld together with transitions and overlapping. In no time you’ll have something that looks professional and extremely sweet. Your Mom will be so impressed and love the gift. Don’t forget to get her a card too.
