How to Recognize Some of Ben-10's Newer Aliens

Once you've started watching the Cartoon Network show "Ben-10," you'll soon find yourself able to recognize and name all of the 10 original aliens: Diamondhead, Fourarms, Heatblast, Ghostfreak, Ripjaws, Wildmutt, XLR8, Stinkfly, Grey Matter and Upgrade. But what about all of the new aliens that keep popping up? As we know from episodes set in the future, the Omnitrix (the device that stores alien DNA) will eventually allow Ben to be able to transform into any of thousands of aliens. Since it can be hard to tell the players without a scorecard, the following is a list of some of the newer ones.

• DVDs of "Ben-10" Seasons 1 and 2

1. Roll out the red carpet for Cannonbolt, the first of the new aliens to arrive. This Arburian Pelarota from the now-destroyed planet Aruburia is a large, armor-plated alien capable of rolling himself into a ball and launching himself at high speeds as an attack weapon.

2. See double...triple...quadruple... with Ditto, a small alien capable of cloning himself into an infinite number of copies. The Ditto clones aren't particularly strong or fast, but they can be tricky and of course they have strength in numbers.

3. Eyeball the Eye Guy, a weird-looking alien with eyes all over the upper half of his body (except on his head). He can fire energy beams and, in one instance, a freezing ray from these eyes.

4. Get out of the way when Upchuck's set to blow. This Gourmand from the planet Peptos XI can consume just about anything, and when he's digested what he's eaten, it turns into explosive balls which he then spits out.

5. Look way, way up to Way Big, Ben's largest alien. He is almost 100 feet tall and has super strength and near invulnerability proportionate to his size.

6. Sprinkle a little water on Wildvine, a plant-based alien with a head that resembles a Venus Flytrap. This Florauna from the planet Flors Verdance is capable of shooting out tendrils that can extend for some distance and can also fight by producing thorns and explosive seed pods.

7. Get wrapped up in Benmummy, an alien who takes the form of a bandage-covered Egyptian mummy. He is very light, but fast and strong and is easily able to regenerate from any damage received in the course of battle.

8. Howl at the moon with Benwolf, a Loboan from the planet Luna Lobo. This werewolf-like alien has powerful claws, fangs and an ultrasonic howl capable of splitting rocks.

9. Recognize Benvicktor by the bolts sticking out of his neck. He is a robotic alien with a metal body resembling that of Frankenstein's monster and he can project a stream of energy that resembles lightning.

Tips & Warnings

• If you find yourself getting really into Ben-10 but you're not a 10-year-old boy, don't worry.
• You may find yourself wanting to buy some of the many really cool Ben-10 action figures...and then a few more, and a few more, and before you know it you'll have blown a few hundred dollars and have a house full of them

on 12/3/2007 Great article! If my 8-year-old Ben-10 superfan had his way, he'd have all 10,000 characters...and that's just good the good guys! I better win the lottery soon :)
