Check out skimonline.com, which lists skimboarding contests for the year. Since the sport is relatively small, there are fewer online sources than, say, skateboarding.
Step2
Look through the event list and find one near you. There are even international contests. Skimboarding contests take place March through November.
Step3
Learn about the skimboarders in a skimboarding magazine or at VictoriaSkimboards.com, which sponsors a skimboarding team, and ExileSkimboards.com, another sponsor. They are 2 of the largest makers of skimboards.
Step4
The West Coast and East Coast Championships are 2 of the biggest events. The West Coast Championships are held at Aliso Beach and Laguna Beach in California in July and the East Coast Championships are held at Dewey Beach, Delaware, in August.
Step5
Say hello or congatulate your favorite skimmer. Skimboarders are accessible before and after contests.
Step6
Take plenty of action shots. Skimboarding has a lot of action and it's easy to get close up because events aren't as crowded as other kinds of sporting events.
