When you have twins, once they reach the age of "Mine, Mine, Mine," which for me was 10 months, they will need to have their own toys. You can do it the easy way, give them each a toy, or do it the hard way, and make or teach them to share. Read on to learn how to make sure toddler twins each have a toy.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Two sets of almost everything
  • Two sets of dinnerware
  • Two sets of clothing

  1. Step 1

When your twins are born, you will not yet need to have two of everything because they will be sharing a crib, like mine did. Because my twins were preemies, they were in the same incubator for their first two weeks of life. Once they got home, they again shared the same crib until they were five months old. Since I did not bathe them at the same time, all I needed was one baby bath. When my twins reached the age of semi understanding, I had to get them two of everything. Here are some photos of what I mean:

Because my twins do not understand they are twins and shared the same womb, they do not understand why they wear the same clothes either. I am sure once they reach two-and-a-half or three-years-old, they will begin to understand why Mommy likes to dress them in the same clothing and give them the same dinnerware.

  3. Step 3

If your goal is anything close to mine, you will not want to hear your twins fighting over the same toys all day long. Yes, it is true, even when they do have the same toy, they will still fight over it. This all has to do with all humans being born selfish and if this applies to singleton babies, then it too will apply to twin babies.

  4. Step 4
Here are Minnie Mouse dolls and tricycles for my twins second birthday.

Finally, I know it could get expensive when purchasing two of everything. At first when I began purchasing two of everything, I thought to myself, why am I doing this? Do I really want to hear them fighting all day long over one toy? Sharing is a taught behavior and at the ages of 10 months to four years, sharing is not a concept often understood by toddlers. So, I decided to just purchase two of everything to give me some peace of mind and to give me sanity.

Tips & Warnings
  • If you want to keep your sanity, purchase two of everything.
  • If you love your twins and want peace in your home, purchase two of everything.
  • If you have twin girls or twin boys, purchase toys for that sex of course.
