Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Things You’ll Need:
- A good amount of heroism
- A parent responsibility and willingness to provide for your child and educate it like a person
- A desire to make the child happy
Step1
Imagine your life with a baby sleeping in a bassinette next to your bed. Imagine all the fuss around this baby: your time don't belong to you anymore, your time belongs to the baby. All your attention belongs to the baby too. You may not be able to take a shower or go to the bathroom sometimes, when you are alone with the baby. Unless if you don't take it with you in a baby car seat, as I was doing.
Step2
Imagine you must forget about your 8 hours "beauty" sleep and good sleep at all. Babies and toddlers are waking up every night at least 5-9 times per night, crying and wanting your attention and care, because they are teething or have colics. You must stand up and have the baby's or children's "Tylenol" next to you, the child's bottle with milk or water and the child's toys.
Step3
You can not take care about yourself so much, because the child will cry most of the time and will want your care and attention. Find a quick way to put your best clothes on, make yourself a easy to keep hair-cut and be ready for devoting all your love and attention to your child.
Step4
You have to learn to find a good entertainment for your baby or toddler, if you have a very important work in the house. Bring the toys, that your child likes, play with the child, leave it to watch some children's movie and hope, that this will distract the kid, so you will be able to do your task. Buying a home swing for the kid helps a lot too.
Step5
Being a parent includes also changing diapers, cleaning and giving a bath to the baby, feeding the baby, burping the baby, putting the baby to sleep, playing with the baby, calming the baby when it is crying, observing if the baby is sick and taking care of the baby when he/she is sick, etc. Your body and your mind will not belong to you for a while, but to your baby. You have to be devoted parent /especially a Mother/ twenty four hours of the day, seven days of the week. There is no time-off. The greatest reward which is beyond compare with any other happiness is your baby's smiles, hugs, first steps, kisses, first words and love that will make you so happy as nothing else and nobody else can.

on 11/30/2007 Nope, I'm definitely not ready! (Although I kinda suspected that all along.) Unless you count pets!
Great suggestions, tho, for those who are less certain about themselves!
