How to Make Steak San Marco

This has become one of my favorite winter recipes. My mother-in-law gave me this recipe as a newlywed, and this hearty northern Italian meal is now a staple at my dinner table.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • 2 lb chuck or round steak, cubed
  • 1 pkg onion soup mix
  • 1 16oz can tomatoes
  • 1 tsp oregano
  • 2 tbsp cooking oil
  • 2 tbsp wine vinegar
  • garlic powder to taste
  • served over rice, noodles, or mashed potatoes

Step1
Put cubed steak into a large skillet, and brown on all sides over medium heat.
Step2
Add onion soup mix and tomatoes to the skillet. Stir thoroughly.
Step3
Add oregano, garlic, cooking oil, and wine vinegar. Stir well.
Step4
Cover the skillet, and simmer over medium heat for 1 1/2 hours.
Step5
Serve over cooked rice, noodles, or mashed potatoes.

Tips & Warnings

  • This dish makes awesome leftovers! Freeze what's left, and you'll have another meal handy.
