Mix 1 tsp salt with a glass of warm water. Gargle.
Step2
Crush 2 asprin and mix with warm water. Gargle.
Step3
Drink plenty of warm liquids such as tea.
Step4
Avoid acidic drinks as they can cause more irritation.
Step5
Set up a vaporizer, especially in your bedroom, to help moisten the air.
Step6
Suck on throat lozenges that contain anesthetics. Hard candy will help in a pinch since it will cause you to produce more saliva to coat your sore throat.
Step7
Use an anesthetic throat spray to offer temporary numbing.
Tips & Warnings
Children should use acetaminophen or ibuprofen in place of asprin due to the risk of Reye's syndrome.
Before attempting to treat your sore throat yourself, be sure a doctor checks you out to be certain it isn't an infection such as strep that would require a prescription medication to treat.
