How to Make Pinecone Place Card Holders

Whether you're setting the table for guests are just your family this holiday season, a pinecone place card holder acts as a decorative and festive touch to your table.

Things You’ll Need:

  • Any pinecone will do as long as it is not too small or narrow. A nice round pinecone will work best to hold your place card. The pinecone needs to be open completely.
  • You will also need a variety of twigs,driftwood sticks, pebbles, acorns, dry moss, or other natural treasures. Dried flowers and berries are especially beautiful. If these items are buried under the s
  • Glue (tacky glue, hot glue, or whatever type of craft glue you prefer to work with), a small piece of corrugated cardboard, and a place card are the only other items needed.

Step1
Start by inserting your placecard into the pinecone so that it stands straight when you hold the pinecone into an upright position.It shouldn't be necessary to glue the card in place unless you want to make it permanent.
Step2
Set the pinecone on a small piece of corrugated cardboard for a base. You can cut the base ahead of time into any shape or size you desire.
Step3
Arrange the natural items around the pinecone on the base and affix into place with glue. Try to cover the base well.

Tips & Warnings

  • Be creative with creating your place cards! Use old greeting cards, photo cards, or decorative hand-made cards from which to cut shapes and place inside the pinecone card holders!
  • Never let young children use hot glue without assistance!
