How to Make Sugar Plums

Let the visions of sugar plums dance in their heads once more when you make these traditional holiday treats. You won't need a single plum!

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderate

Things You’ll Need:

  • 10 dried figs
  • 1/3 cup of slivered almonds
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 2 Tbsp. unsweetened cocoa
  • 1/2 tsp. cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp. almond extract
  • 1/4 cup sugar (white or colored)
  • 1 Tbsp. orange zest
  • Food processor or blender
  • waxed paper

Step1
Remove stems from figs.
Step2
In a food processor or blender add the figs, cocoa, cinnammon, and almonds. Chop or pulse until the ingredients are minced into small bits.
Step3
Add the honey, almond extract and orange zest to the blender or food processor and pulse until mixed.
Step4
Roll mixture into one inch balls. Sprinkle sugar on waxed paper and roll balls in the sugar to coat.
Step5
Store sugar plum in a tightly sealed container for 5 to 7 days.
