How to Give Your Wedding the Hollywood Movie Feel

So many weddings are simply boring and dull. Many brides work tirelessly to prepare a wedding day that will be what they always dreamed of and one that the guests will enjoy and remember. Music is one key element to changing a boring wedding into a romantic, Hollywood type wedding to remember.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • Live or recorded music
  • Sound system, portable is fine
  • Volunteer to coordinate music sound levels
  • Cooperating officiant or minister

Step1
Contact your wedding minister, coordinator, and musician or disc jockey and inform them that you want music to be played throughout the wedding ceremony, except during the vows and prayers.
Step2
Choose your music. Have at least twice the amount of music that you estimate will be needed during the ceremony.
Step3
Coordinate with the minister the "signals" he or she will use to tell the music volume volunteer, musician, or DJ to increase or decrease the music volume.
Step4
Before the ceremony, have the wedding officiant or minister practice talking while the music is playing to establish a base starting volume level.

Tips & Warnings

  • If the musicians are live, do not use high strings such as violin while the minister is speaking. Sticking to low strings is best and provides a rich undertone that makes the ceremony come alive!
  • Provide the videographer and photographer with copies of the music used for their use in preparing your finished video or photograph side-show.
  • The DJ must be in clear sight of the officiant or the volunteer volume coordinator. There must be visual link between the source of the music and the wedding minister.
  • Hard of hearing guests should sit closer to the front where the bride and groom are standing and further away from the source of the music.

on 11/21/2007 My husband and I got married at our house, we had no music and your article makes me (almost want to remarry). Thanks for the tips just in case we do it again someday.
