Things You'll Need:
- Cleaning supplies: Glass cleaner, vinyl/plastic cleaner, paper towel, cloth
- Vacuum (preferably a shop vacuum)
- Gloves (optional to wear to keep your hands clean)
-
Step 1
Empty all garbage items out of car and into trash. This includes gum wrappers, scrap paper, old menus, cans, and cigarette ashes/ashtray.
-
Step 2
Empty all unnecessary items out of car, including the front and back seat. This includes spare shoes, umbrellas, and hats. Put these items in the trunk or in their proper places. If you need to keep them in the car, organize them in a proper container, such as a small box, and place it back in the back floor of the car when you are finished cleaning.
-
Step 3
Wipe down all plastic (dash, steering wheel, seatbelt covers, walls) with vinyl/plastic cleaner or other similar cleaner appropriate for your car's material. Use a cloth for the sake of saving paper towel and avoiding dust flecks.
-
Step 4
Use paper towel and glass cleaner to wipe down all interior glass in your car. This includes windshield, all windows, back window, and sun/moon roof. Don't forget to wipe well and avoid streak marks or cleaner dripping and causing marks.
-
Step 5
Now it's time to vacuum. Pull the vacuum up and begin vacuuming all interior cloth/leather of your car. This includes the floor, seats, back shelf, and all crevices and cracks. Use the vacuums special thin tools, if available, to reach cracks and crevices, such as in between seats, under seats, and in all other hard to reach places. If necessary, remove mats to vacuum separately. Otherwise, just vacuum on top and lift to get underneath as well.
-
Step 6
Remove all cleaning supplies and rags from car and arrange mats, seats, and all other items back to their original positions. Hang a new and fresh smelling air freshener in your mirror to optimize the cleaning effects via scent.
