How many more weddings do we have to attend where the groom and groomsmen's boutonnieres are huge, ugly, flopping to the side, and breaking off? There is an easy way to avoid this unsightly nightmare.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Calla lily, total length 4" or less
  • Small sprig of greenery
  • Small ribbon
  • Long hat pin
  • Floral arrangement wire, thin
  1. Step 1

Refuse any suggestion by the florist to use roses, large or small.

  2. Step 2

Insist on calla lilies for the men. Insist on hat pins to attach the boutonniere to the men's jackets, pinning from behind.

  3. Step 3

If the calla lilies are purchased from a wholesaler or grocery store, wrap the calla lily along with a small amount of greenery in a small piece of ribbon. Secure the small package with a small piece of floral arrangement wire.

  4. Step 4

Hold the calla lily boutonniere at a slight angle, top of the flower pointing slightly to the man's left shoulder, wrap the lapel around the flower, and pin from behind with a long hatpin.

Tips & Warnings
  • Ribbon can be same color as bridesmaid's dress trim.
  • Calla lilies can be placed in colored water in advance to tint them to match the bridesmaid's dress colors.
